Dr. Brkljacic earned her B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. Her graduate research was mostly focused on the regulation of gene expression in buckwheat. She moved to The Ohio State University for a 5-year postdoc on plant-specific nuclear envelope and nuclear pore biology, where she gained extensive cell biology expertise in Iris Meier's lab. In 2009, she became an Associate Director of the Arabidopsis Biological Resource Center (ABRC). Her current research focuses on the regulation of seed development at the chromatin level. Dr. Brkljacic also leads ABRC's education and outreach programs "Greening the Classroom" and "TRAINED" (Translating Research on Arabidopsis Into a Network of EDucational resources) to promote plants as educational models at the K-12 and college level.
