Description:
Transgenic line overexpressing GNC and GLK2. Agrobacterium strain GV3101, transformed with the GLK2 construct in pGWB405 (35S:GLK2-GFP), was used to transform 35S:GNC plants by the floral dip method. Selection was performed based on resistance to Basta (GNC) or kanamycin (GLK2). Homozygous for the transgenes.

Small rosette, severe growth reduction in the shoot, and delayed maturation. Chlorotic interveinal spaces, dark green veinal regions, enhanced chloroplast production in the roots. Reduced sizes of mesophyll chloroplasts and increased size and number of chloroplasts in stomatal guard cells. Significant decreases in photosynthetic parameters related to the quantum yield of PSII and both photochemical and nonphotochemical quenching.
